Why Flex Tip Mat?

Most outdoor scraper mats use flat surfaces with molded treads or grooves. They work — but they have limits. Flat surfaces push debris around. Treads fill up quickly. Mud clings to the surface rather than falling away.

The Flex Tip Mat uses a completely different design. Thousands of flexible rubber fingers — 2,000 per square foot — flex and move as you walk, actively working into shoe treads to dislodge embedded dirt, gravel, and debris. The spaces between the fingers create deep wells that trap everything below foot level, keeping it off the walking surface and out of your building.

The solid 5/8″ natural rubber construction makes this a substantial mat. It’s heavy enough to stay put in high winds and durable enough to handle years of heavy traffic. OSHA-compliant beveled edges on all four sides provide a safe transition and help contain debris within the mat.

And here’s a benefit most outdoor scrapers don’t offer: the flexible fingertip design also provides excellent anti-fatigue cushioning. Comfortable to stand on while searching for keys, waiting for someone to answer the door, or taking a moment before heading inside.

Important: Door Clearance

At 5/8″ thick, Flex Tip mats are thicker than most entrance mats. Before ordering, verify you have adequate door clearance. If your door swings outward over the mat location, measure the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor to ensure at least ¾” clearance.

Cleaning Instructions

Flex Tip mats are designed for easy cleaning:

1. Shake — Pick up mat and shake vigorously to dislodge loose dirt and debris
2. Scrub (if needed) — Use a deck brush with neutral pH detergent for stubborn soil
3. Rinse — Hose off or use a pressure washer
4. Dry — Hang mat to dry completely before returning to service

The flexible fingertip design releases debris easily — most cleaning is as simple as shaking the mat out.

FAQs

Will this mat fit under my door?
At 5/8″ thick, Flex Tip is thicker than most mats. Measure the gap between your door bottom and floor — you need at least ¾” clearance for the door to swing freely over the mat. If clearance is tight, consider a thinner scraper like SuperScrape (3/8″).

How heavy is the Flex Tip mat?
Natural rubber is dense and heavy. The 24″x32″ weighs approximately 12 lbs, the 32″x39″ about 18 lbs, and the 36″x72″ around 35 lbs. This weight is a feature — the mat stays put even in heavy winds.

Can I use Flex Tip indoors?
Yes, but it’s designed primarily for outdoor use. The thick profile and aggressive scraping action make it ideal for exterior entrances. For indoor applications, consider WaterHog or carpeted entrance mats.

Is this mat comfortable to stand on?
Yes — surprisingly so for a scraper mat. The flexible fingertips compress underfoot and provide anti-fatigue cushioning, making it comfortable to stand on while waiting at doors or searching for keys.

How does Flex Tip compare to SuperScrape?
SuperScrape uses molded rubber cleats for scraping. Flex Tip uses thousands of flexible fingers. SuperScrape is thinner (3/8″) and works well where door clearance is limited. Flex Tip (5/8″) is more aggressive and provides anti-fatigue comfort, but requires more door clearance.

Will the fingertips wear down over time?
Natural rubber is highly durable. With normal use, the fingertips will maintain their shape and flexibility for years. The mat may show wear patterns in extremely high-traffic areas, but will continue to function effectively.
