Action Mat

Price range: $31.95 through $144.95

Heavy-duty absorbent mat designed to soak up hydraulic fluid, coolant, water, condensation, oils, and solvents. The polypropylene surface absorbs contaminants while the vinyl backing prevents liquids from reaching the floor underneath.

Choose from three backing thicknesses (52-mil standard, 65-mil medium, 90-mil heavy duty) and three backing styles. The black and white tweed pattern hides stains so it keeps looking professional even after absorbing spills.

Description

Why Action Mat?

Here’s what happens in auto shops, machine shops, and industrial facilities: fluids end up on the floor. Hydraulic lines leak. Coolant systems drip. Oil changes make messes. And every fluid on the floor creates two problems — slip hazards for workers and damage to your floor surface.

Most facilities rely on disposable absorbent pads. They work, but they shift around, need constant replacement, and create ongoing waste. Plus they look terrible after absorbing anything.

Action Mat is engineered for permanent fluid control. The surface uses 20 oz/yd² of 100% cotton yarn — one of the most absorbent natural fibers available — woven into a durable cotton duck substrate. This combination soaks up hydraulic fluid, oil, coolant, water, condensation, and solvents aggressively.

The backing is nitrile rubber, not standard SBR. Nitrile resists grease, oil, and chemicals that would break down ordinary rubber. It won’t degrade from constant contact with the fluids you’re absorbing. And it provides excellent traction on hard floors even when the mat itself is saturated.

When the mat gets saturated with contaminants, don’t throw it away — commercially launder it. The cotton yarn releases absorbed fluids during washing, and the nitrile backing holds up to repeated laundering cycles. You get years of service from a single mat.

The black and white tweed pattern isn’t just aesthetic — it hides absorbed stains so the mat looks professional even after heavy use. Your shop floor stays presentable without constant mat replacement.

Key Features

High-Absorbency Cotton Surface 20 oz/yd² 100% cotton yarn aggressively absorbs hydraulic fluid, oil, coolant, water, condensation, and solvents. Woven cotton duck substrate (10.8 oz/yd²) adds durability.

Nitrile Rubber Backing Grease-proof and oil-proof rubber won’t break down from absorbed contaminants. Provides excellent slip-resistance even on wet or oily floors.

Commercially Launderable Wash out absorbed fluids and reuse. Unlike disposable pads, Action Mat provides years of service with proper care.

Three Thickness Options Choose backing durability to match your environment: 52-mil standard, 65-mil medium duty, or 90-mil heavy duty.

Three Backing Styles Smooth backing for hard floors, universal cleated for carpeted areas, or suction backing for maximum grip on smooth surfaces.

Stain-Hiding Design Black and white cotton tweed pattern conceals absorbed fluids. Mat looks professional even after heavy use.

Safety Compliant Passes flammability standard DOC-FF1-70.

Custom Sizes Available Standard sizes from 2’x3′ to 4’x8′, plus custom lengths in 3′ and 4′ widths.

Universal Cleated Carpeted areas or multi-surface use Cleated pattern grips carpet while working on hard floors
Suction Maximum grip on smooth floors Suction cups provide strongest hold on sealed concrete or tile

Thickness Options Explained

Thickness Use Case Body / Border
Standard (52-mil) Light to moderate traffic, occasional spills 52-mil body / 94-mil border
Medium Duty (65-mil) Regular traffic, frequent fluid exposure 65-mil body / 107-mil border
Heavy Duty (90-mil) High traffic, constant fluid exposure, rolling equipment 90-mil body / 90-mil border

Heavier backing = longer life under demanding conditions

Laundering Instructions

Action Mats can be commercially laundered to remove grease, oil, and dirt. Adjust formula as needed based on soil type and quantity.

Important: Do not wash Action Mats with nylon or other synthetic carpet mats — this causes pilling.

Step Action Details
1 Flush 2-3 min, medium water level, 120°F (49°C)
2 Optional Flush 2-3 min, medium water level, 120°F (49°C)
3 Break 5-10 min, high water level, 120°F (49°C)
4 Rinse 2 min, high water level, cold
5 Rinse 2 min, high water level, cold
6 Extract Low speed, 1-2 min
7 Shake Out Wash speed with drain open, 1 min
8 Extract High speed (250 Gs), 3-5 min
9 Dry 15-30 min, 180°F (82°C) basket temp
10 Cooldown 5 min

Critical: Ensure mats are thoroughly dried to prevent mildew formation in cotton yarn.

Safety & Disposal Notice

⚠️ Important: Mats saturated with oil, solvents, or other hazardous materials must be stored and disposed of in accordance with local regulations. This includes proper disposal of any oil or solvent residues. Consult your local hazardous waste guidelines for specific procedures.

FAQs

What fluids does Action Mat absorb?
Action Mat absorbs hydraulic fluid, coolant, water, condensation, oils, and solvents. The 100% cotton yarn surface is highly absorbent for both petroleum-based and water-based fluids.

Why nitrile rubber backing instead of standard rubber?
Nitrile rubber is grease-proof and oil-proof. Standard SBR rubber breaks down when exposed to petroleum products. Nitrile maintains its integrity and slip-resistance even with constant oil and grease contact.

Can I wash Action Mat in a regular washing machine?
No. Action Mat requires commercial laundering equipment. The mat is too heavy for residential machines, and the high-temperature drying cycle (180°F) is essential to prevent mildew.

How often should I launder Action Mat?
Frequency depends on your environment. Launder when the mat becomes saturated or shows significant soil buildup. Some facilities launder weekly; others monthly.

What’s the difference between the three backing thicknesses?
Standard 52-mil works for light to moderate use. Medium 65-mil handles regular traffic and frequent fluid exposure. Heavy duty 90-mil is for high-traffic areas, constant fluid exposure, and rolling equipment like carts or dollies.

Which backing style should I choose?
Choose smooth for hard floors (concrete, tile, epoxy). Choose universal cleated if the mat might be used on carpet or multiple surface types. Choose suction for maximum grip on sealed concrete or tile.

Why does the border have different thickness than the body?
On standard and medium duty mats, the thicker border (94-mil and 107-mil respectively) creates a raised edge that helps contain fluids. Heavy duty mats have uniform 90-mil thickness for maximum durability under rolling loads.

Can I get custom sizes?
Yes. Custom lengths are available in 3′ (35″) and 4′ (45″) widths. Contact us for custom sizing.

How do I dispose of saturated mats?
Mats saturated with oil, solvents, or hazardous fluids must be disposed of according to your local hazardous waste regulations. Do not dispose of saturated mats in regular trash.
