Heel Grounder connects workers to ESD matting, allowing static electricity to discharge safely to ground. Designed for workers wearing rubber soles or other insulating footwear. Velcro strap fits all shoe sizes. For best performance, allow fabric strip to contact sock or skin. Sold individually.
ESD mats can only dissipate static if the charge can reach them. Workers wearing rubber-soled shoes, sneakers, or other insulating footwear are electrically isolated from the mat surface — static charge builds up with nowhere to go.
The Heel Grounder solves this by creating a conductive path from the worker’s body, around the insulating shoe sole, and into the ESD mat. Static electricity passes through the grounder into the mat, then through the ground wire to building ground.
The Heel Grounder wraps around the heel of the shoe with a Velcro strap. A conductive fabric strip extends inside the shoe to make contact with the worker’s sock or skin. This contact point picks up static charge from the body.
The outer portion of the grounder contacts the ESD mat surface when the worker stands or walks. Static flows from body → fabric strip → grounder → mat → ground wire → building ground.
Universal Fit — One size fits all. Velcro strap adjusts to any shoe size or style.
Skin Contact Design — Conductive fabric strip extends inside the shoe to contact sock or skin for optimal charge transfer.
Works With Any ESD Mat — Compatible with electrically conductive, static dissipative, and anti-static mats.
Durable Construction — Built for daily wear in industrial and electronics environments.
Sold Individually — Order the quantity you need. Many facilities require two per worker (one for each foot).

Industries:
| Scenario | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Complete protection | 2 per worker (one per foot) |
| Minimum protection | 1 per worker |
| Facility with 10 workers | 20 heel grounders (2 each) |
| Spares/replacements | Add 10-20% for wear and turnover |
Two heel grounders per worker ensures continuous grounding regardless of which foot contacts the mat.
For full ESD protection, three components must work together:
The system only works when all three are in place. A grounded mat with no heel grounders leaves workers ungrounded. Heel grounders on an ungrounded mat have nowhere to discharge static.
Do I need one or two heel grounders?
For complete protection, wear one on each foot. This ensures continuous grounding regardless of stance or movement. Minimum protection requires one, but two is recommended.
Can I wear these over my shoes?
The Heel Grounder wraps around the outside of your shoe heel. The conductive strip extends inside to contact your sock or skin.
How do I know if it’s working?
ESD test equipment can verify proper grounding. Many facilities perform regular testing to confirm personnel are properly grounded.
How long do heel grounders last?
Lifespan depends on usage intensity. Inspect regularly for wear on the conductive elements and Velcro. Replace when contact surfaces show damage or when testing indicates poor conductivity.
Do these work with any shoes?
Yes. The Velcro strap adjusts to fit any shoe size or style. They work best with closed-heel shoes but can be adapted to most footwear.
What if my mat isn’t grounded?
The Heel Grounder connects you to the mat, but if the mat isn’t grounded to the building, static has nowhere to go. You need both the Ground Wire & Snap (to ground the mat) and Heel Grounders (to ground personnel).
Can I wear these on carpet?
Heel Grounders are designed for ESD mats and conductive flooring, not standard carpet. Carpet does not provide the conductive path needed for static discharge.
Are these reusable?
Yes. Heel Grounders are designed for repeated daily use. Replace when worn.
Required for Complete ESD System: → Ground Wire & Snap — Connects ESD mat to building ground
ESD Mats: → Comfort Scrape ESD — Anti-fatigue with ESD properties → Static Dissipative Smooth Mat
